"I chose to create a portrait of hero and peace advocate Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe of Native Americans. Hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt, popularly known as Chief Joseph 3/3/1840-9/21/1904 was a leader of the Wal-lam-wat-kain band of Nez Perce, a Native American tribe of the interior Pacific Northwest region of the United States.
To me, Chief Joseph is a symbol of the oppression that has been carried out against numerous people on this planet by those unjust people whose souls of been blinded by greed and unkindness and dishonesty, who invaded the land, that they were living on for many generations. This behavior has played out numerous times over the millennia with those that have lost touch with their hearts and souls. May this painting of this Native American hero and peace advocate help us remember to honor and respect each other, the land and all creatures great and small. Let us honor Chief Joseph by spreading a wave of justice and Regeneration, .. a Regenessance for all people here in the USA and beyond to the entire world. We can create a world where its more important to take care of each other, take care of the land and honor the spirit of this beautiful miracle of Earth which we have been blessed to have been able to experience.
Some Chief Joseph Quotes:
“ It does not require many words to speak the truth.”
I have asked some of the great white chiefs where they get their authority to say to the Indian that he shall stay in one place, while he sees white men going where they please. They cannot tell me.the good words and all the broken promises. There has been too much talking by men who had no right to talk. It does not require many words to speak the truth.)
“If the white man wants to live in peace with the Indian, he can live in peace. Treat all men alike. Give them all the same law. Give them all an even chance to live and grow. All men were made by the same Great Spirit Chief. They are all brothers. The Earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it. Let me be a free man, free to travel, free to stop, free to work, free to trade where I choose, free to choose my own teachers, free to follow the religion of my fathers, free to think and talk and act for myself, and I will obey every law, or submit to the penalty.”
“The earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it.”
May this painting makes people more aware of the injustices towards his and other First Nation’s people and help us remember to not let this unjust behavior happen to ANY people . How can we make up for the injustices and lives lost? Its time for a regenessance . A rebirthing a reseeding, a new feeling of connection to the land and each other.. remembering we are all just stands in the great web of life on this planet. "
