Anlässlich der Wiener Weltausstellung von Theophil Hansen erbaut, zählt das denkmalgeschützte Palais Hansen am Schottenring zu den historischen Prachtbauten der berühmten Wiener Ringstrasse. Theophil Hansens moderner Zugang zu einem klassischen Palais war für die damalige Zeit richtungsweisend für das Gesamtbild der Stadt Wien und der Entstehung der Wiener Ringstrasse. Wie kein anderer prägte er die Architektur der Donaumetropole. Im Zuge des Baues (1869 bis 1873) , vormals konzipiert als Zinshaus, wurde das Palais zur Weltausstellung 1873 zu einem Hotel umgebaut und im Anschluss als Amtsgebäude der Stadt Wien genutzt und wird nun, seiner damaligen Bestimmung gemäß, wieder als Hotel geführt.
Built by Theophil Hansen on the occasion of the Vienna World's Fair, the listed Palais Hansen on Schottenring is one of the historic magnificent buildings on Vienna's famous Ringstrasse. Theophil Hansen's modern approach to a classical palace was trend-setting for the time in terms of the overall image of the city of Vienna and the creation of the Vienna Ringstrasse. Like no other, he left his mark on the architecture of the Danube metropolis. In the course of its construction (1869 to 1873), formerly designed as an apartment building, the Palais was converted into a hotel for the 1873 World Exhibition and subsequently used as an official building of the City of Vienna and is now, in accordance with its former purpose, once again managed as a hotel.
