Artist Statement
I made these three illustrations in memory of my son, Gruff Elliott Harnest. He was born very early but we had 16 days with him, some of the best days of my life. I am so grateful that my doctors and nurses were able to help me bring Gruff into this world so safely, which gave us the days that we had.

Biography
Faye Harnest’s work is centered around grief, disability, and mental health. Faye’s illustrations can be seen in Missing Pages, a series of online artworks and public programs from BRIDGE Centre for Architecture + Design, Cambridge Art Galleries, and Idea Exchange. Her work will also be featured in the upcoming CripRitual exhibit at Tangled Art + Disability gallery (Toronto). She is currently illustrating a graphic memoir, work from which was part of Life on the Line, a mental health awareness campaign seen on Toronto subway cars and featured in Colossal, Hypebeast, and others. www.fayeharnest.com
