Circles intro black

Circles intro black
100 x 100 x 1 cm (h x w x d)

This exhibition of recent mixed media works centre around my fascination with the art of seeing. I have created this new body of work within circles to simulate looking at the world outside (or within) through a porthole. The world we are viewing through these windows is a world of contrasts - a world consisting of so many examples of elements interacting with each other - Nature vs. Structure.

Growing up in New Zealand, coastal and mountain themes have been predominant in my work. With my home now in London, I am influenced by how man-made structures compete with the landscape. I feature the contrast between the strong, angular lines of architectural forms (usually brutalist or modernist structures) interacting with the fluid, organic backdrop of abstracted/imagined landforms, which I refer to as “Earth Skeletons”.
