Elizabeth Lange came to Baltimore in 1813 and began to work to educate children of Caribbean immigrants and slaves, a practice which was illegal at that time. Lange, the founder and first superior of the Oblate Sisters of Providence, was born in Haiti and arrived to the United States by way of Cuba. This footage was shot by strikeWare on an expedition to the coasts of Haiti.
