Andrea begins each canvas by writing a prayer onto the canvas. This conversation is not with the viewer therefore no particular effort is made to preserve the text in the final layers, although sometimes small bits do show through in the final piece. Conversation with the viewer begins with the color, shapes and texture of the mixed media artwork. Andrea paints intuitively using many layers, but leaving some part of previous layers showing. It is the artist’s belief that we can always learn from experience, both good and bad. In a similar way, within these layers (some good and some not as good) something is always worth keeping.
