Canadian National Railroad, Toronto, Ontario, 1957
archival pigment print

A low winter sun illuminates Canadian National steam locomotives at the company’s Spadina Avenue engine–servicing facility in downtown Toronto, as they wait to be dispatched on afternoon passenger runs out of the city. After complete dieselization of the CN, this service area was closed and is now the site of the spectacular CN Tower, one of the tallest freestanding structures in the world.
