Delaware & Hudson Railroad, Port Henry, New York und weitere Werke von Jim Shaughnessy

A passenger waits on a rainy day to board the approaching southbound Delaware & Hudson’s Laurentian at Port Henry, New York, situated on the west shore of Lake Champlain. This train, and an overnight sleeper service, ran daily between New York City and Montreal with connections through Albany. The PAs were the favorites of D&H president Sterzing and area railfans. The D&H ultimately had four ex–Santa Fe engines that were refurbished, repainted, and put on the roster. Port Henry was once a busy industrial area with a large blast furnace that processed an iron ore called magnetite, found within deep Adirondack mines.
