Rutland Railroad, Walloomsac River, near state line, New York und weitere Werke von Jim Shaughnessy

The overnight Rutland Railway freight train RC–2 with RS3 no. 2018 from Rutland, Vermont, to Chatham, New York, is seen on the bridge crossing the Walloomsac River near the New York state line, on the B&M’s Bennington Branch. This train once traveled its own rails through the eastern edge of Rensselaer County in New York to reach Chatham and carried milk destined for New York City markets. When this line—affectionately called the Cork Screw due to a curvy section near Bennington—was abandoned in 1953, an alternate route via the B&M and NYC was established.
