"The piece Stolen Freedom was created in June 2020 during the BLM movement in NYC as a response to the unjust and cruel immigration US policies towards international students as well as the wrongful incarceration, detention and deportation of foreigners during the Trump era." - Fabio Esteban Amador
Fabio Esteban is an artist who combines art and science to create visual narratives. He started studying fine arts at the School of Visual Arts and Art Student League of New York in the 80s. He then fell in love with the idea of becoming an artist for scientific expeditions and after many years of study he received a Ph.D. in Mesoamerican Archaeology from the State University of New York. In his career he has worked as a professor of anthropology at the Albert Einstein Univeristy in San Salvador, San Diego State University in California and at the National University of El Salvador. Fabio also became a science officer for the National Geographic Society where he began to use photography and video to create visual narratives that were then published through National Geographic.
Throughout his career, Fabio has specialized in the use of imaging technologies to document ancient sites around the world. Using creativity and visualization technologies has allowed Fabio to successfully contribute to the advancement of Ancient American cultures by documenting rock art in El Salvador, Cuba, México, Puerto Rico and Peru. In the past two years while living in Mexico, Fabio used photography to capture sacred landscapes and indigenous groups throughout the Yucatan Peninsula and Chiapas.
