My style, technique and world view are all an amalgamation of everything I've seen and studied as I've walked this road. Many of my paintings in recent years are the direct result of travelling. I am also an avid reader and I think this informs my work even if it isn't readily apparent. I can truly say that art has kept my spirits up through hard times like nothing else could. Along with providing me with a way to (sort of) make a living, it has at times kept despair at bay.
As a teenager, my artistic heroes included a lot of surrealists and fantasy artists but this soon expanded to an appreciation of many genres of art. From Renaissance to Rococo, Impressionism to Photorealism. My favorite art combines innovative ideas with technical proficiency, so that is what I strive for in my own work. I always want my next painting to be better than the last one, but that doesn't always happen so an artist must learn humility. I am grateful for the abilities I have been given and I try to work hard at my craft.
