Hometown: Stuart

A non-objective experimentation probing compositional constructs and rotating elemental emphasis, my art is an exploration of the effects of form, line, texture, neutrality of color, with varied materials on canvas. Rather than creating an emotional expression or statement, my process is most often an intellectual exercise in puzzle solving...assembling and balancing the pieces to find a "comfortable" or "comfortably uncomfortable" compositional pose.
Nevertheless, a more representational painting style is not out of the question and provides a respite from (what is for me) highly intensive non-objective studies. While remaining challenged by the same artistic elements, in choosing a "knowable" subject I am able to see a beginning and end mimetic in some way to a familiar world.
Whether my work is non-objective, abstract, or representational, I recognize that my viewers will overlay their personal experience on their interpretation and ultimate connection or indifference to my art. (That's the fun part!)
