Rico Lanáat’ Worl & Crystal Rose Demientieff Worl
42 x 29.7 x 1 cm (h x w x d)

The siblings Rico and Crystal Worl, members of the Tlingit Athabascan tribe, opened their design shop "The Trickster Company" in Juneau, Alaska, in 2014. Their company promotes innovative indigenous designs from the Northwest Coast. It first started when Rico was selling his handpainted skateboards. Then, after his sister earned her degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she joined him as a business partner. They apply the Northwest Coast formline art from their culture to everyday items such as books, skateboards, snowboards, and basketballs to bring these designs into modern context and fashion. Today, both travel throughout the country running pop-up shows and participating in fashion runways.

"We focus on Northwest Coast art and explore themes and issues in Native culture and strive to represent a prestigious lineage of art in fresh and energetic ways as a celebration of Northwest Coast culture as it lives today. We are active advocates of diversity in community and work to promote diversity in civic engagement." – Rico & Crystal Worl, 2021
