01e25fx22 The journey - from the Porth Kinnis series
Digital composite archival print

At an early age, secondary photographic sources were used as material for play, which lead to an intuitive and autobiographical approach to design/colour/texture. Works now result from using 'found' photographs and a digital assemblage method that continues to evolve. The joy of montage is in the recognition that disparate images may blend together despite their incongruous elements.

The Porth Kinnis series grew from a photomontage as seen on the website ... https://www.futumuntarj.com/porth-kinnis.php. Derived from representations of being in Lelant, Cornwall, the series is as much about place/experience as it is about reconstruction/invention. Original pixels may be rearranged or converted to represent alternative perspectives/outlooks resulting in new assemblages. Some structures remain throughout most of the series and ways of presenting these elements are tried out using digital tools. A thoughtful and past-experience frame of reference refines the digital processes resulting in original images printed using archival pigment-based inks on paper and canvas.

This artwork is another from the series and has nine images with a development phase starting from the top left of the eight small views following around the edges to the larger central digital composite. These pictures highlight choices edited from 'found' photographs that are digitally manipulated in response to the place and the experience of representation as the process evolves. Some structures remain throughout most of the series and ways of presenting these elements are tried out using digital tools. This work is 43 x 35.5 cm and printed using archival pigment-based inks on archival paper or canvas. The work is not for sale.
