At times, the dark dreams and the black thoughts I have overwhelm me to such a point that I can't shake them off and they blind me to reality. This headdress, neckpiece and stand speak of these thoughts. The web of dreams that are so complicated and scary that I wake up in a blind panic and no matter how hard I try to tell myself it was only a dream, I struggle to pull myself out of it into reality again. Yet, they can be beautiful dreams in their darkness too. There is often an element of femininity and beauty alongside the terror. The bony hands wrapped around the neck represent the shortness of breath I feel when I wake in panic.
This headdress and neckpiece are fully wearable but the headdress is designed to cover the eyes to represent the blindness to reality in those waking moments.
