South Africa
Leather, ostrich eggshell, iron beads

One popular bead type found in Southern Africa was beads made from ostrich shells. While in there are few extant or surviving ostrich eggshell beads in archaeological evidence, the few that do exist indicate they were popular in eastern and southern Africa. Ostrich eggshell beads had been used in more modern times in southern Africa before colonialization, often on garments to symbolize power and wealth.
