Rubik's Cube , 1974

Rubik’s Cube used courtesy of Spin Master.

In the mid-1970s, design professor Ernő Rubik's search for a way to demonstrate three-dimensional movement to his students led to the invention of the Rubik's Cube. Erno envisioned 3D, twisting blocks – and built the first, messy prototype shown here from wood, paper clips and rubber bands.
