Artist Statement: The feeling of melancholy and isolation are conveyed through the elegance of everyday objects, symbolisms embedded within my works create narratives that reflect hardships and familiar memories, and especially the complex emotions stirred up by the COVID-19 pandemic. I focus on the dramatic theatre like setting to highlight how the disease has taken over our lives, putting normality on an unforeseeable hold.

Winner of the SHAC Award

Criteria: Awarded to a Bachelor of Visual Art student at the Ballarat campus who has shown a correlation between their conceptual motives, formal and aesthetic choices and has provided evidence of creativity, innovation and experimentation in their professionally presented body of work.

Value: Includes promotion of the student’s artwork through exhibitions and mentorship from selected members of SHAC
