(Commissioned Print & Gift Print, 2009)

Best known for her installations, textile art, and sculptures, Hamilton is a contemporary American artist who is also active in the fields of photography, printmaking, video, and video installation. In February 2009, she installed human carriage in the rotunda of the Guggenheim Museum, New York. Her formal description of human carriage reads “Installation of cloth, wire, bells, books, string, pipe, pulleys, pages, cable, gravity, air, and sound.”

For her Commissioned Print, Hamilton created 60 digital prints in a variant edition consisting of two prints each of 30 separate but similar images. Each image consists of two stacks of the book weights she created for her installation, human carriage. Each book weight is identified by a letter.
