Migrant Workers and the Backbone of the World's Rural Economy , 2009

In this Antonio Castro’s honed and incisive migrant workers poster, the spade’s shaft becomes a painfully exposed spine distorted by the demands of crushing physical labor. There are just very simple elements exist in the design, the shovel and the vertebra. The shovel is the symbol of labors and even though the vertebra does not be pushed to a exaggerated angle, it still gives us the sense of pressure and frangibility. As a modern poster, it is a computer printed work. However, it keeps hand drawing style obviously with a pure yellow background. Yellow can reminder us many words such as danger and pressure, also the dark tone makes a serious atmosphere which push us pay more attention on the social problem that it shows off.
