[Re]Imagining Photography and more art by Bethany Williamson

An inquiry of perception; from photography as generative art to experiencing it as sound. This project is an exploration of how technology in the new age can help artists challenge conventions in perception. I have been exploring the potential of the photographic image by retrieving and then translating its data beyond the realm of the still image. The work has been achieved through the application of mathematical algorithms and computer programming. Here we see a photograph of a cube expressed in a plethora of ways. Other parts of this series of work include an app that translates the photograph’s RGB values into a sound file, and moving pieces of generative art based on the aesthetics of the photograph that respond to the sound of the image itself.
