The figure of a proletarian, hammer in one hand, a lamp of hope in the other, has broken free of his chains. Bourgeois politicians, capitalists, landlords, warmongers and imperialists cling to his feet in a human chain of their own to halt his triumphant march, but in vain.

The pen and ink work shows the influence of Soviet iconography on Chittaprosad's visuals, as he creates a towering, monumental figure for the proletarian, head considerably smaller in proportion than his legs. The muscularity of his physique is accentuated by his cross-hatching, setting it in stark contrast with the feeble, trembling, unsure mass of oppressive figures.
