In his letters Chittaprosad time and again turns to the vision of Rabindranath Tagore, whose lines must have resonated with him profoundly as he sought answers to nearly impossible questions about the artist and his role in society.

This is one of at least two portraits of Rabindranath by Chittaprosad, which shows the ageing poet immersed in the act of composition. He looks up from his page, as if to acknowledge the artist’s presence.
