Haiti, b. 1983

William ​is originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He earned a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA in painting and printmaking from Yale University School of Art. His exhibitions include domestic and international institutions such as the Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York City; Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach, CA; Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Miami, FL; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA; Museum of the African Diaspora and the Fraenkel Gallery, San Francisco; and the Fredericks and Freiser Gallery, Anna Zorina Gallery, James Fuentes Gallery, and DC Moore Gallery, all in New York City. William’s work has received critical acclaim from the ​LA Times​, ​The New York Times​, ​Hyperallergic​, Harper’sMagazine​,​New York magazine, and​ArtinAmerica.​He was an artist-in-residence at the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation in Brooklyn. He is a 2018 recipient of the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award in Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. William has taught at Yale School of Art, Vassar College, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, SUNY Purchase, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He is currently an assistant professor of expanded print at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Jersey.
