Galileo
150 x 150 cm (h x w)

Galileo was an Italian astronomer who believed that the Earth rotates around the Sun. He was never sentenced to death, despite being processed by inquisition. By all rational criteria, the heliocentric theory was certainly not heretical, and the Inquisition removed this word from its decree against Galileo before publishing it. Still, Galileo was strongly suspected of heresy, and was not allowed to be buried in the main hall of Basilica of Santa Croce.
