Musso, Hawthorn, and Peter Collins were teammates in the Scuderia Ferrari, but the two Englishmen agreed to share prizes equally no matter who came first and kept Luigi out of the deal; this rivalry situation lead Musso to always push himself over the limits. In Monaco 1958 GP, Musso arrived 2nd, Collins 3rd and Hawthorn retired. Musso died 2 months later in a brutal accident in France GP, that year Hawthorn won the Championship.
