This painting was made along an ancient trackway on the Somerset Levels near Glastonbury. The tree canopy and branches make a solid composition only punctuated by the sunlight at the end of the holloway and the patches of light filtering through the canopy. Though there is darkness the overall effect is satisfying and gives a glimmer of hope and comfort. The painting provided a basis for some of the circular planet paintings made in the studio.
