The Forgotten Children and more art by Mackenzi King

In the United States alone, 200,000 children are at risk of being sexually trafficked, according to the National Criminal Justice Reference Service. On top of that, hundreds of thousands of children live in the foster care system and have designated Department of Children and Families agents due to their dangerous, and sometimes fatal, living standards and situations. The trauma and torment that these children often endure is unthinkable. In this piece, I wanted to illustrate the nature of how these children are treated, as well as make a statement to you, the reader. We can use our advantageous situations to speak for those without a voice, or an identity.
