Coastal Bald Eagle Nest and more art by Mark Cook

Coastal Bald Eagle Nest, 2021

Photography

A mother Bald Eagle incubates her single egg in a dead mangrove tree along the coast of Florida Bay. The abundant American Coots and other waterfowl that wintered in the bays and coastal lakes of Everglades National Park this year provided a bountiful supply of food for nesting eagles and other predators.
