Exploring issues of Mexican identity in the built environment.

My research and art focus on cultural adaptations of modernism, particularly as they relate to marginalized populations and the identity of native people. If we are to reflect on Laugier’s Primitive Hut as the origins of the mythologization of architecture—exploring the anthropological relationship between man and his environment—we find that the relationship is more complex than ever before: climate change, religion, the geopolitical arena, and emerging technologies all shape how we see, design, and construct the built environment.
