My Cat, Taily and more art by Mika Fowler

My Cat, Taily, JBHS, 12th

I've always been interested in psychedelic art, but haven’t had the opportunity to explore it. For this piece, I chose to draw my cat, Taily, to have fun and experiment with color and shape. I chose to draw my cat this way because I admire cats’ individuality and personality. I attempted to express the uniqueness of cats. I utilized my skills with colored pencils to capture the psychedelic style. My goal was to convey a realistic rendering using colored pencils. When I asked my brother what he thought, he said it resembled space. My mother thought it looked like underwater. I appreciate how art is open to interpretation by the viewer. What do you think? How does it make you feel? Does it make you happy?
