(Commissioned Print & Gift Print, 2005)

A native of Des Moines, sculptor Rita McBride has enjoyed an international career as a sculptor, professor, and director of the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany. Exploring form and meaning in Modernism, she has made sculptures of parking garages, a typical form of 20th century architecture. Her Commissioned Print depicts a (now destroyed) parking garage in downtown Des Moines. According to the artist, the title “LOT FULL” was her way of asking whether Modernism might have reached its limits. She worked with Dan Benveniste Contemporary Publishing and Printmaking in Madrid, Spain, to produce this print.
