Healing can come from West African symbols, in which are used in the Gullah culture.

Five carefree children are depicted in this piece entitled "Sankofa's Seeds." In Africa, Sankofa is a sacred bird that flies in the air with an egg in its mouth looking backward, but yet flies forward. The bird looking back represents, giving thanks to our ancestors who have paved the way for us to have a better life. The egg represents the seeds (children) and the bird is moving ahead into the future.

There is wisdom that can only be passed down from the elders and ancestors that the youth would not be able to find on the internet today. There is a level of innerstanding that can be shared to help the youth overcome their challenges by knowing the strength & truths from those who came before them.
