Pokerwork on kangaroo skin

Barkindji Dreamtime is strongly linked to the kangaroo, in particular the story of Bookamurra. Barkindji warriors tracked Bookamurra for days and finally caught and killed the giant kangaroo at the southern end of the Willandra Lakes. The Barkindji people also have a strong connection to the Darling River (Baarka). The design on this hide represents where I come from, where the Murray and Darling Rivers meet in Wentworth.
