Artist Statement
Trees 5: Flowers Under Branches is about the emergence of colour as the seasons change from cold to warm. The three layers of photographs of trees represent the beauty of their structure as displayed in their winter form. The flowers in the background represent the warmth of spring and summer, while emphasizing the beauty of the trees. The collaged photographs create the impression of walking through the environment as the seasons change and plants fill the world with colour.
Digital collage created using photographs of three different trees, and four flowers (daffodil, rose, tulip, and peony).

Artist Bio
Lisa uses photographs and digital collage techniques to create flowing, organic, abstract images. She is interested in exploring how photographs can be combined to create abstract collages that are inspired by the textures, shapes, and colours of plants. The images are inspired by the shapes that are formed as plants grow throughout their lifecycles, especially by their roots, branches, seeds and flowers. She has also been exploring the light and shadow that are captured during the process of taking and editing photographs and by the interactions between the images that occur as the collages are created.
