Artist Statement
Paper can be folded, crumpled, ripped, and cut.
I choose to cut: composing layers of colour to create my vision. My scalpel glides over my markings in a meditative practice as my design is born. This is what I love most: the process. Strategizing how to represent my vision in paper, choosing colours and then cutting and assembling the layers as I watch my composition come together. I am forever influenced and inspired by nature and environmental processes. My work is an exploration of those forms: breaking subjects down into their simplest shapes and then repeating them throughout my design. Using bold and high contrasting colours brings life to the movement in my work. I aim to brighten spaces with beautifully bold impressions of nature.
