Artist Statement
My work is often an eclectic collection of portraits, landscapes, flora, and abstracts; this is symbolic of my desire to discover and create new things and my inability to limit myself to one particular genre. I primarily set out to inspire a simple contemplation, peace and joy in the viewer. In our world, there are
many struggles and hardships and life is full of ups and downs. I believe that if we focus on that which is good, wholesome and uplifting it will evoke a mindset of thanksgiving and make a tremendous difference in our outlook and mental well-being.
“Art is the means by which I release that which is inside me” - Katrina Abrahams.

Artist Bio
From a very young age, passion was evident in Katrina's love and appreciation for art. After studying design at Humber College in Etobicoke, Ontario, Katrina returned to her first love, Jamaica, to pursue further studies in fine art with Jamaican master painter Barrington Watson, and subsequently embarked on a solo career as an artist in 2002. With her work, she aims to touch the depths of your soul and speak to your spirit. Her palate often consists of rich and vibrant colours ranging from the cool tones of blues and aquas to the lively reds and oranges that vibrate off the canvas. Although Abrahams works in acrylic and mixed media, she prefers the versatility of oils. “There’s just a particular quality that can be achieved with oils that really can’t be duplicated by any other medium.”
Katrina currently lives in Ontario, Canada with her 8 year old son. She continues to balance her role as a single mother with that of a full time artist working on canvas and still produces her “Designs By Katrina” line of hand painted glass and porcelain.
