Tadeo Muleiro's work immerses itself in the delicate challenge of crossing the formal exuberance of certain ancestral native cultures and the conceptual demands of contemporary art. His work presents beings that have created a new mythology, give way to their world and transform it. Through soft sculptures, drawings and paintings, video and performance, Tadeo builds forms that intertwine archetypal images of various races and cultures to build a universe of his own.
Tadeo Muleiro takes advantage of the ancestral legacy to build a story in which cosmological entities intersect with specific moments in Argentine history and the artist's private life. Each work delves into ceremonies and legends that, applied to contemporary life, produce immediate interactions with these times, thus multiplying their projections at imaginary and symbolic levels.
Among the selected pieces is the video El abuelo, which tells the story of an indigenous spirit that moves from the countryside to the city to demonstrate in front of the statue of Julio Argentino Roca, the main arm of the military campaign that exterminated great part of the natives of the Argentine Republic.
In the textile piece Pieles and in the series of paintings Seed, Cut, Skin, Tadeo delves into the stories of the myths of the Amazonian tribes, which narrate that all bodies, including the human body, are conceived as clothing or wrapping. The piece that Tadeo presents is composed of bodies made of fabric that open as if they were part of a cocoon. The forms, in their movement, unfold showing a set of "skins" of warm and cold colors whose center is the black body. In pre-Columbian thought there are successive bodies within the body, the primordial naked body is the "soul" body. Tadeo reflects on this ancestral conception of the body and asks himself: How many "skins" do we carry inside? Is it time to change our current skins and look for others that will take us to a better destination?
Finally, in the series of drawings "Offering in the Garden of Guaraní Street", the garden of Tadeo's home is populated with objects and archaeological pieces of diverse origin and origin, giving rise to a dreamlike scene and intimate ritual.
In its mixture of various cultural references, the work of Tadeo Muleiro creates its own universe where the past and the present meet, giving rise to a multiple identity, to a mythology of beings far from their time to inhabit our world
