Artist Statement

My work is inspired by the natural world. I create marine themed functional and decorative objects but can be inspired by flowers from my garden. I create food safe fish platters textured with lace and shells, oyster plates embellished with tiny sea creatures, mother of pearl oysters cups and 14 kt gold, and raku and stoneware urns topped with sculptures of fishes and sea creatures. My Scales and Tails work feature fish handles, shell impressions and graceful lines mimicking waves. It includes wheel thrown platters, serving pieces, mugs and vases. Other pieces may be adorned with starfish, seahorses, scallops, barnacles, fish or mermaids. My newest line features thrown and altered pieces with carved “patterns in the sand”.
