Dance and more art by Laura Jaffe

16 x 20 Giclee, by special order Original sold. This painting feels like a dance, the way it flows
across the canvas. See the leaps and twirls!
I paint abstract in acrylics and sometimes combined with mixed media. I love the freedom of the flow and the emotion that can be expressed within this style. There is such a release as I use a brush, or perhaps a shaper, or a palette knife to apply color with a broad stroke. I generally cover the entire canvas with paint as opposed to leaving negative space. For me, the space screams Fill Me Up! And so, I concede. Color is one way to show my feelings, which usually are
quite happy, and so the colors are bright and saturated. My world is full of color, in my clothing, in my home, and on my canvas! I began painting about 2016 at a Paint and Sip Party. I fell in love with the silkiness of the paint and both the ferocity and the gentleness of the palette knife. I was hooked! I began painting regularly and was fortunate to take some classes at the Boca Raton Museum School of Art. Since then, I have evolved in the complexity of my painting, and spending time in my home studio distracts from this chaotic world. I love what I do, and I am passionate about sharing my art. You may not understand Abstract Art per se, but my hope is that you will be drawn in by the color or texture or whatever your mind allows you to see. There is no right or wrong...only the limits of your own imagination!
