It reveals his continuous approach to create new aesthetical dimensions through the repetition of web elements, as well as resembling the criticism towards the modern usage of web platforms. This web-based animated drawing displays hundreds of ‘Likes’ spreading out from the middle of the screen simultaneously, creating a chaotic impression out of the web plane. Following the artistic lineage of the Pop Art movement, this artwork actively borrows the contemporary commercialised symbol as its materialic resource.
‘Likes’ acts as a notorious sign of online popularity throughout different platforms, and is often easily considered as a capital in a highly digitalized economy. We, the modern citizens of the augmented world, are extremely dependent and sensitive on the quantity of the ‘Likes’ for the digital contents and artworks we create. Regular checking through social platforms for those numbers is now the irreplaceable task of our daily routine. All we are expecting from this intrinsic habit is the ‘Yikes’, an encounter of a rapidly increasing number of likes from the recent post we had uploaded. Unfortunately, the more we are sensitive to the numbers and indexes, the less the chance we will encounter such a lucky scenario."
