My work embodies multicultural themes. I transformed traditional Chinese dragon patterns into pop images. By using the shape of a package, I explore various ideas around identity, art and globalisation.
In China, we are used to online shopping and all kinds of packages are a necessity in our lives. When I arrived in Melbourne, shopping became an adventure. I began to re-examine my relationship with the materials of shopping, which are made in China.
I destruct and then reconstruct the materials of shopping. During shipping, packages are sometimes damaged, which I see as a kind of re-creation. I used these materials to translate Chinese culture into the visual language of contemporary art. My own identity is also constantly being reshaped in this work.
