Letter from Alvin Slowe to Dean Lucy Diggs Slowe, September 25, 1937, Lucy Diggs Slowe Papers, Moorland-Spingarn Research Center

Dean Slowe also kept in close contact with her family as demonstrated in this letter from her nephew, Alvin. He addresses her as his "darling Aunt Lucy" while recalling a much needed visit with her days prior to his writing on September 25th, 1937. He highlights her accomplishments and the praise he often hears when he mentions her name to people, but most notably, at the end, he tells her he is praying for her "every night" and affectionally sends his love. Dean Slowe's impact on those around her came not simply from her hard work but mainly from her loving spirit as indicated by Alvin's correspondence a mere month before her death.
