Collage

This mini collage photography series was created during phase 3 of the pandemic in Chicago, USA. I chose a bright and
colorful palette to emphasize the addiction for conflicts and controversies presented by the media, as well as my inner
dilemma about "Survival of the fittest".
My work reflects how people have become increasingly disconnected from nature due to busy consumer-oriented lifestyles
and the consequent concerns of abusing artificial and non-eco-friendly substance as a social norm within our modern society.
Industrialism might be put on pause due to the global pandemic; it does not mean the environmental degradation is also put
on pause. Despite knowing that those artificial and non-eco-friendly substances (like plastic bags and medical waste like
rubber gloves, etc.) are harmful to the natural environment, we still need to rely and consume them more than ever on daily
basis to secure our health and survival. My message through my pieces is whether with or without the global pandemic,
environmental sustainability should be an all-time priority and should never be neglected. I hope and envision a post-
pandemic world where people are kinder and more compassionate not only to each other but also to mother nature.
