Artist Biography:
I am an artist that lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and have been a practicing for over 25 years. I graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC and from the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, DC. I maintain a studio in my home, teach mixed media art classes and exhibit locally.

Artist Statement:
My work is inspired by how unbelievably horrified I am by our President, by Mary Oliver's beautiful words and by the power of women who vote. The women in my mixed media collage are pioneers of feminism and suffrage, women of strength and outrage, women of courage and laughter and women who are leaders.

Mary Oliver's words and her life embody the "nasty" movement and all it stands for. Her words encourage us to take responsibility for our lives and our time. To me this means to vote and change the world we are currently living in.

I used the censorship bar over eyes as a way to express the inequalities women have suffered/are suffering but the message is to VOTE.

We need to continue rise up and make our voices heard. Women are the change. Women are the future.
