This photo was taken in Northeast Washington, DC. I was living at 45th and Foot St. NE. Known as The Megalopolitan Blizzard, the 1983 storm left some areas of northwest Montgomery and Frederick counties in Maryland with the greatest amount of snow ever recorded in those areas, even more than that recorded during the infamous Knickerbocker Storm of 1922. The storm crippled the region, closed the area's three major airports and shut down Metro, according to The Washington Post.
