This image is a rendered view of stacked cross-sections of a high-pressure compressor fan blade seen from above. The arrangement and colors of the sections result in a multi-colored bird-like shape.

I happened upon this configuration while trying to fix some visualisation parameters.

I believe it represents well the unexpected beauty our scientific results can sometime take on.
