PopAM and more art by [7] Prathamesh S. Desai

The art piece shows a time slice from a computational particle dynamics simulation of an additive manufacturing (AM) modality, when viewed through the lens of the “pope of pop” art from Pittsburgh, Mr. Andy Warhol. The AM modality depicted here is referred to as binder jet additive manufacturing and comprises of layer by layer spreading of a metal powder with a cylindrical roller and binding the spread layer with a binder.
The top left square shows the rendering of the additive manufacturing modality with the powder particles exhibiting their natural color.
The top right square depicts the particles colored by their speeds.
The bottom left square shows the particles color-coded by the layer number.
And finally, the bottom right square highlights the bonded particles in red.
