Ritual , 2020

Gouache and Colored Pencil

“Ritual” was meant to explore the action of performing a ritual. I researched the use of censers, a tool for dispersing incense, altar bells and their connection in witchcraft to spirits and energy, as well as the significance of a witch’s ladder, or witch’s cord, a rope knotted with charms to constitute a spell, as well as other things. I focused on the energy and magic created by the use of spells and ritual objects, with an emphasis on the lively atmosphere created.
