(Commissioned Print & Gift Print, 1992)

Iowa native and a founding member of Print Club, Richard Black taught printmaking at Drake University for over 30 years. Black worked in a variety of media, including etching, collograph and lithography. Intrinsic to his creative process was the making of collages that served as sketches for his color prints. His work is characterized by densely filled, discontinuous space. In his two-color lithograph, Tea for Alice, each object is comprehensible but the relationship between the objects is ambiguous. Richard Black was the second artist to create a Commissioned Print for Print Club.
